100) Crepes And Puffs @ Changi Village
21/6/14
What’s for dessert after a hearty meal of Chicken Cutlet Hor Fun? That’s right, desserts!!!
So here we are at Crepes and Puffs. Very empty and that’s how I like it! No queues, long waiting time nor noise!
In a typical shop like this, you’ll find the traditional multi-layered crepes spread with jams/chocolate, something like what Lady M will serve. Instead of that, you will find it done in a different way. Over here, they serve it in a miniature rolled up size (like a spring roll) and have it encased with LOTS and LOTS of different fillings.
I wanted to try their Mao Shang Wang Crepe ($4.5), but it’s out of stock! So I went for the D24 crepe ($3.5) instead and accompanied with a shot of espresso. As simple as it looks, but the filling was gao gao (thick and condensed) and had a balanced taste of sweetness and bitterness. The eating experience was enhanced with whiffs of durian aroma (yes, i call it AROMA)! I’ve also discovered that espresso was a perfect pairing with durian crepe. There was a balance between the bitterness (espresso) and sweetness (crepe), it was truly a match made in heaven!
Glad that I’ve found this gem in the far east! [No GST and no service charge]
